Living-history park tracing Edmonton from the fur-trade fort to the 1920s.
What to Expect
Fort Edmonton Park is Canada's largest living history museum, recreating four eras of Edmonton โ the 1846 Hudson's Bay Company fur-trade fort, an 1885 street, a 1905 street and a 1920s midway and streetcar line. Costumed interpreters people the streets and shops.
A working steam train and replica electric streetcars carry visitors between eras. It's the single best place to understand how a fur-trade outpost grew into a modern prairie city.
Best Time to Visit
MayโSeptember; special events like the Christmas season opening bring festive programming.
Practical Tips
Located at 7000 143rd Street NW. Allow a half day; ride the steam train and streetcar to move between eras and check the interpreter schedule for demonstrations.
Where to Stay
Downtown and the ICE District put you near restaurants and Rogers Place; the river valley is steps away for trails and festivals.
